Freestyle moves to win a competition !

In this article I am looking at 9 high risk moves and the moves that lead up to them. The simpler moves normally happen when the conditions are not quite there, so they become a lower risk move. Often they are turned into double/triple moves to create a higher score.

6 moves allowed on each side with 3 moves to count per side, 4 in the quarter finals to the finals.

So could this be a winning combination?

If you could do all these six moves on both sides, you would only have to perfect 6 moves, but there are not many people that can do that. So there may be other moves you will have to do.

So maybe I have to add:

Some explanation

Pasko

PASKO-WH

A move that is loved by all freestyle sailors that sail waves.

This is a double upwind rotation in the air. There are various styles, mostly depending on the water conditions. Flat water, it will tend to be a double Air Flaka.

Air Flaka

When they can get a bit more hight off a bit of chop, it becomes an Air Flaka Shaka.

Shaka

The aim being to get the shaka completely in the air.

In some circumstances the first rotation can be a bit more like a Ponch, where it is tweaked.

They like this move going out, as the bigger the wave the better!!!!!!!!! but on flat water they will do it both directions.

Burner

BURNER-WH

This is a down wind rotation when they go switch stance before the move. Switch stance is being in the foot straps on the opposite side. In the past it was counted as part of the move but now because there are so many moves in switch stance, it is not.

SWITCHSTANCE-WH

It also involves ducking the sail, so you are back to sail, likewise it is now not included in the move due to the same reason.

DUCK-WH

The variations make it so much fun. Such as 1 handed and no handed………..

They will invent more.

Air Funnel

Funnel-WH

This is the same rotation as the burner except it is horizontal.

The more horizontal the board and rig can be the better as sometimes I find it hard to know whether it is a Burner or Funnell

Culo

CULO-WH

We have the Burner which is switch stance and when it is done in normal stance, it is the Culo.

The Bob is normal stance and when it is switch stance it is the Funnell.

Like with the Funnell I do like the rotation to be horizontal. Sometimes it still can be difficult to say which is a Culo and which a Bob but it will tend to be a Culo if it is a second move in a combination.

Kono

KONO-WH

This move can be done switch stance or normal but it is still called the same move. It is also the same move whether it is 180 or 360 degree rotation.

It is this move that develops into the Skopu or Kabikuchi, it is a 180 degree upwind rotation followed by a 180 degree downwind rotation.

Skopu

This is the switch stance move.

Air Chacho

AIR-CHACHO-WH

Coming in it will tend to be the normal Chacho but going out it turns into an Air Chacho.

Shifty

SHIFTY-WH

The last move I wish to do.

It is a skaka Ponch, it can be done on flat water but in waves it is very impressive. The move is so new there are not that many videos out yet.

Even though I only showed 6 moves in the top list, due to the progression to those move. I have listed many more that automatically are done if the top scoring move can not be done.

When you are watching what tends to happen is, on the way out the moves are normal stance and on the way in switch stance. However the moves can be done both directions.

There are obviously a lot more moves but they can be done in another article.
